It’s easy as pie! I promise!  Click Here for more information on how to set up your box, as well as a few sample questions to get your storytelling conversation started.

This month’s TMAS Box is based on Roxaboxen by Alice McLerran. Roxaboxen is a perfect creative setting to let your imagination flourish! This amazing book is inspired by a true location and precious memories from the author’s mother. Roxaboxen tells the tale of a young girl who creates a town with her friends out of ordinary objects found around her desert home in Arizona. To a child sand, sticks, and rocks are never quite what they seem. They can turn into homes, shops, forts, cars, and many other wonderful items. Roxaboxen highlights the power of imagination. Enjoy this book with your little one and be reminded of life through the eyes of a child. You never know what adventure awaits you…

Once you’ve read Roxaboxen, you start with a box…

Then add a few prompts! Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Pebbles/Rocks
  • A stick
  • Bottle cap
  • Sea glass (amethyst, amber, sea green)
  • Succulent
  • Sand

Remember to keep your items to a limited quantity. Too many prompts can overwhelm your child. Choose 3-5 items that will inspire them to create a simple story. Fill up your box, invite your precious one to curl up on the couch with you, and begin imagining together!
