Apron Adventures: Fruity Froggy Friends

These little snacks are just perfect to serve after reading Frog and Toad Are Friends  by Arnold Lobel with your little tadpoles!  Here’s what you need to get hoppin’:

Supplies Needed:

  • Banana
  • Green Apple
  • Green Grapes
  • Sharp Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Toothpicks
  • Chocolate Chips or Raisins

Cut your apple into fourths and remove the core.

Remove a small wedge from the peel size of the apple to form a frog mouth.

Slice up a banana into 1/2″ slices for the frog eyes.

Position the apple on a plate and insert two toothpicks into the top of the apple.  Slide two banana slices onto the toothpicks to form eyes and finish by gently pushing two chocolate chips or raisins into the centers to create the frog pupils.

Cut a grape in half.  Position the grape halves next to the apple on either side to create frog legs.

Cut two grapes in half and cut 3 triangles out of the tip to create frog webbed feet.  Position two of these in front of the frog legs.  Cut the round ends off of the remaining two and position in front of the frog.

Repeat the same steps and assemble a friend for your frog.
